Tangled Feet: Working with and for young people in Summer 2017

This is a project by an academy in Welwyn Hatfield. The organisation will use the funding to provide physical activity events, a games day and training for sports leadership and coaching. This will provide the opportunity for pupils to be physically active which will improve confidence, skills and health and wellbeing.

This project will provide a 12 month programme of health and fitness cricket activities for young people aged 6-16 years. This will engage young people in physical, positive activity which will improve health and wellbeing and bring the community together.

This project will contribute to the development of an outdoor canopy. This will facilitate outdoor play and allow a community meeting place outside of school hours which will bring the community together.

This project will install play equipment in the school grounds for use by pupils and local community groups. This will provide opportunities for children to be more physically active which will improve their health and fitness.

This project will use funding to run American football and fitness activities for local students, particularly international students. This will provide students with a social activity, to help reduce feelings of loneliness and improve their physical and mental health.

Reaching new audiences with regional partners

The project will support 500 carers of children with cerebral palsy in Kathmandu, Kathmandu Valley and 20 rural districts of the country. Careers will be organised to form support groups and a carers association to engage with government and support carers? rights. Doctors and counsellors will be trained on carers physical and mental health needs. The projects will also establish community caring centres, staffed and managed by trained carers.

This school will use the funding to develop its grounds by installing fencing and purchasing play equipment to expand the play area. This will provide a fenced off designated area for the younger children and will give them additional access to a local wooded area which will provide a defined larger play and learning space to improve their social and emotional development.

This charity will use the funding to install a new boiler within the community centre. This will improve the environment within a community facility to support continued use by the wider community.

This organisation will use the funding to purchase and install a waterless toilet at the allotment site. This will ensure that the site is fully accessible for all local people, specifically older people and those with physical disabilities or mobility issues.

This will provide support for people affected by drug and alcohol addiction to stop the cycle of misuse and help them to become abstinent.

Resurfacing 3 outdoor tennis courts at Gosling Sports Park

This organisation will use the funding to deliver extracurricular sports and physical activities for children and young people with disabilities attending local mainstream and specialist schools. These sessions will provide pupils with special educational needs or disabilities with supported activities and opportunities to take part in taster sessions, improving co-ordination, physical fitness and confidence.

This school will use the funding to deliver healthy, physical activities to young people with disabilities and families outside of school time. These activities will help to encourage active, healthy lifestyles for all members of the community, reducing the risk of obesity, ill-health and isolation.

Welwyn Sporting Generations

The organisation will use the funding to make improvements to its Key Stage 1 playground facilities. This will enable the organisation to assist the beneficiaries to increase their attainment in fine motor skills, improve social skills, address issues of difficult behaviour and create a quiet area for children who do not enjoy boisterous games at playtimes.

The group will use the funding to offer study skills courses for girls aged 16 looking to take on Maths and Science at A-level. This will increase their skills, knowledge and confidence in these subjects giving them a better chance of achieving a pass grade.

The organisation will use the funding to improve their playground facilities including installing artificial grass, a safe pathway and sand pit with toy storage area. This will enable children to access creative play activities throughout the year, and help to improve their behaviour and aid their development.

The organisation will use the funding to deliver multiskills, creative and cooking workshops and activities to primary school children and their families during the summer holidays. This will provide children from deprived communities with free activities during the school holidays to improve confidence, self-esteem and resilience, as well as prevent boredom, social isolation and inactivity.

The project aims to improve access to services, economic wellbeing and digital inclusion and in the long-run reduce isolation and anxiety.
