Art Happens Phase 2: building skills and resilience for heritage organisations through crowdfunding

This project will support people who are living with the effects of mental ill health and anxiety, in order to improve levels of wellbeing and reduce isolation.

This new project will work with the Kosovan community in Islington and the surrounding areas to improve the quality of life, confidence, education, physical and mental health and skills of this community who often feel isolated. The project will provide volunteering opportunities, a mentoring programme, a youth activity programme, family projects and cultural and community development programmes. A team of Kosovan mentors provide one-to-one support.

This project will develop the skills and confidence of young people through public speaking and presentation sessions under the guidance of speakers, coaches and mentors. This will build self-confidence and communication skills and improve employment opportunities.

This project will deliver breastfeeding drop-in groups, providing support, counselling and the opportunity to socialise with other mothers.

The group will deliver varied social activities for older men from the local Asian ethnic communities who are experiencing the effects of social isolation. This will reduce isolation and bring the community together.

This project will stage a gardening and urban farming show, allowing people to take part in activities which benefit their health and wellbeing.

This funding will be used to deliver a programme to young people, which will address community divisions, social isolation and a lack of opportunities. The project will bring together school pupils, aged 10 to 18, and Youth Action Groups made up of disadvantaged 16 to 25-year-olds. Participants will be empowered with the knowledge and skills to raise awareness of the issues within their communities and build community relationships in disadvantaged areas.

The funding will be used to support lone parents who are unemployed and will provide intensive and on-going practical support to enable their progress into education, training, volunteering or employment. The project will work closely with housing associations, domestic violence services, substance misuse services and others to build referrals and signpost participants who have a specific need.

The funding will be used to provide support to lone parents who have complex barriers to participation in the labour market and who may have difficulty engaging with ?mainstream? service provision. The project aims to reduce the number of lone parents across Essex, Thurrock, and Southend-on-Sea who are not in employment or accessing education opportunities by increasing their readiness to participate in the labour market.
