To Preserve and conserve the Church Building of St Andrews

The project will develop a community garden and clubhouse to improve the facilities at their allotment site. This will enable more community groups, including older people and people with disabilities, to develop horticultural skills, enjoy gardening activities, improve their wellbeing and reduce isolation.

The organisation will use the funding to purchase furniture and equipment for their new community internet cafe. This will provide a community hub, and enable local people to access online advice, information, support services and training courses, to upskill them, build their confidence and promote social inclusion.

The organisation will use the funding to deliver ?I Feel Good? training for local mothers. Training will focus on interview skills, project and financial management, volunteering, and overcoming barriers. This will enable the group to continue to provide support for struggling young mothers who are at risk of social isolation, to improve their confidence and skills, and volunteering and employment opportunities.

They will offer trips and activities for injured soldiers. This will include workshops and subterranean climbing at Honister Slate Mine, water sports and open water swimming at Lake Windermere, steam railway activities at Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum, mountain biking at Whinlatter Pass and Forest and jeep excursions at Wray Castle. This will help soldiers transition back into the community, make new friends and reduce feelings of isolation.

The organisation will use the funding to engage young people and children in gardening activities and provide them with a residential with outward bound activities. This will provide diversionary, social, outdoor activities designed to improve their wellbeing and encourage them to become active members of the community.
