Unveiling the hidden LGBT heritage in North Tyneside

The school will run entrepreneur and self-employment after school clubs for pupils and young people in the wider community. This will engage young people in setting up and running their own businesses and selling products at a real market, with support from business experts. The project will help young people to develop practical business, entrepreneurial and transferrable skills, and enhance their career and employment opportunities.

The school will provide an after school programme of music technology and performing arts for students aged 13-16. This will help young people to develop and improve their creative skills in a positive environment and provide a diversion to anti-social behaviour.

The school will install artificial grass surfacing to provide a safe environment for pupils, many of whom have physical disabilities and complex needs. This will ensure the children can access play activities throughout the year.

The project will set up three after school social enterprise challenges for disadvantaged young people aged 11 to 16 in Sunderland. The young people will be encouraged to develop innovative enterprising solutions to problems that matter to them in their communities. This will increase their employability skills, raise aspirations and improve their confidence.

Research and Development: A to Z Unit

The organisation will use the funding to deliver a programme of IT and journalism training for older people in the community. This will help reduce social isolation, enable participants to access services online, and develop their journalism, communication and social media skills, to provide an online community resource providing information on activities, local groups and charities.

The organisation will use the funding to expand their activities to deliver urban arts workshops during school holidays and open them up to younger members. This will provide positive diversionary activities and accredited awards for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, including a showcase event, film and photography sessions, and a trip to an arts festival.

Many older members are retiring from the organisation and younger members are reluctant to assume vacant leadership roles. This will enable the organisation to continue as a community facility for all ages.

The organisation will use the funding to deliver a holiday programme of creative, learning and recreational activities for children aged 5 ? 13 years old from local primary and middle schools and their families. This will provide positive activities during holiday periods, to help aid the children transition into secondary school, whilst encouraging family engagement with the school and their children?s learning.
