Time to Change (West Cumbria) Project CIC

A community befriending project to support lonely and isolated older people, such as those who are bereaved, have a physical or mental health condition, and those with mobility or transport issues, to lead healthier and more active lives. The scheme will engage local clubs, groups and networks to identify lonely older people and provide support, advice and access to advocacy for issues including benefits, transport, mobility problems, and referrals to specialist support services.

The funding will be used to involve local residents of all ages in poetry and writing activities, culminating in a public performance and exhibition. This will support residents who may struggle with low educational achievement, giving them the opportunity to improve their literacy and employment skills through creative storytelling, and boost their wellbeing.

The organisation will use the funding to recruit the services of a rural visiting officer in order that they can carry out CAB services within the wider community. This will provide specialist CAB advice services for people who cannot access their services due to rurally isolation, their health or mobility issues.
