This grant will enable the group to progress from a nine month pilot which delivered a strengths based, needs met, inclusive befriending service to a three year project. This early intervention mentoring project will provide trained volunteer mentors who will provide 1:1 mentoring support to young people, aged between 8?18, who reside on the Isle of Lewis. Working on a risk and resilience basis the mentor will engage with the young person in social and learning activities. The young person will also be supported in exploring their attitudes and choices with the help of non judgemental empathetic advice from their mentor.
