Readipop Festival Arts Award programme 2017

This project will purchase equipment to refurbish their kitchen area to bring it up to health and safety standards and improve facilities for wider community use.

This project will provide seated yoga activities to reduce social isolation and improve the health and wellbeing for members of the over fifties yoga club.

This project will redevelop their outdoor playground for pupils and the wider community, providing a stimulating outdoor area with the aim of encouraging physical activity and improving negative behaviour during breaks.

Holiday Boxing Groups

This project will organise a range of events around key themes including International Womens Day and World Refugee Day, aimed at women from the local African community. This will encourage women who do not normally participate in community activities to get involved and build new friendships, raising greater awareness of issues that affect them and reducing social isolation.

This project will run a training programme and peer support groups to for adults with autism. This will improve their confidence, resilience and quality of life.

Brock Keep - A Roof with a View

This project will run multi-skills and sports activities and a school tournament to improve the physical, emotional, mental and personal development of children, particularly those with special educational needs.

The Winter Giant - Reaching new communities

This project will run a programme of activities for children and adults with autism, including theatre trips, railway activities and pilot sessions in the Oxfordshire and Reading area. This will provide people with opportunities to engage in social and recreational activities.

This project will hold ten days of professional disability awareness sessions in schools in collaboration with a specialist disability training group called Just Different, which is run by people with disabilities.

This funding will help to hire an external venue and employ sessional staff which will establish a new youth and social group for autistic children and young people. This will provide an opportunity for people to build new friendships, increase their confidence, self-esteem and reduce isolation.

This project will deliver a range of extra-curricular sport activities during the school holidays for the benefit of pupils with special educational needs, engaging them in a range of positive activities to promote balance, co-ordination, communication and to reduce social isolation.

GREAT PLACE SCHEME: Reading-on-Thames

The funding will be used by a primary school to run trampoline sessions at a local trampoline park for pupils with special education needs. The project will encourage children to engage in physical activities with the aim of improving their confidence and self-esteem, reducing isolation and increasing wellbeing.

This project will carry out a consultation with local stakeholders, health professionals and referring agencies to better understand the needs of young people and children who have been bereaved. This will enable the organisation to enhance their service and provide the right type of support to beneficiaries.

Marvyn

This project will deliver a range of services including conversational English classes, advocacy and counselling sessions for the benefit of the local Polish community. This will provide them with access to support services with the aim of improving their emotional well-being, confidence and integration into British society.

This project will deliver four projects in schools and youth clubs, delivering sessions providing key health messages around nutrition, physical activity and hygiene, including physical activities, training in food safety, legacy training for community leaders and general health information. These activities will include health change management tracking before, after and 6 months after the project, and will improve the health and knowledge of 60 young people and their families.

Festival of the Dark

This project will use the funding to provide training for people with learning disabilities and volunteer support workers in order that they gain work experience running caf? bar facilities. This will build capacity for the organisation which will provide caf? sessions where people with learning disabilities and volunteers can access training, work experience and participate in community activities.

The Wolfenden Report: LGBT+ Heritage Documentary and Education Resources

This project will run circuit training classes for young adults and teenagers that are currently not studying or are unemployed. It will also run fitness classes specifically for women and girls that live on the estate. It will provide access to classes and facilities to improve the health and wellbeing of the wider community in an area of deprivation.

This grant will be used to develop plans for a project that will support those furthest from the labour market across the Thames Valley Berkshire area to overcome their barriers to work and find employment. This will include ex-offenders, lone parents, ethnic groups, people with disabilities and mental health issues, the over 50s, the long-term unemployed and those living in rural locations. The development funding will fund partnership development, communications tools and research.

KRISHNA: The mythological hero

The school will create an outdoor all-weather play area for pupils. This will give them a safe and stimulating area, allowing them to get involved in active play.

This project will use the funding to level the land and extend the boundaries and fencing to their community centre. This will improve access for people with mobility issues, increase space for more child friendly activities and establish a vegetable patch to create outdoor learning activities and youth activities.

The group will use the funding to carry out research in ten areas nationwide, to establish the attitudes of 5-9 year old cyclists to cycling behaviour and safety. This will enable the group to adapt their current provision to meet the needs of this target group, creating stronger communities and increasing the capacity of the group to operate effectively in the future.

Following referral through hostels and advice services, people be assessed to identify their goals and develop an action plan looking at things like literacy and numeracy, job searches, training and building confidence. This school will use the funding to install a semi-enclosed gazebo and play equipment. This will provide protective shelter for children and parents as well as providing a play environment to develop and improve physical, social and communication skills.

This will provide an anthology which will help those in charge of interpreter services and others who employ interpreters to better understand their role and how they can be best supported.

The group will expand its current work providing specialist services to parents and carers of disabled children and young people. Families of looked after or adoptive families, who the group has identified as needing extra support, will be offered workshops and courses focused on understanding trauma and improving attachment. These will include talks from experienced practitioners and support with issues like children?s emotional development, sleeping habits and how to navigate the education system.

The Fountain - Outdoor Interactive Installation

This charity will use the funding to run photography, IT, creative and arts and crafts activities for people from the BME community who are isolated through lack of communication and language skills. The arts and crafts and media photography sessions will help to improve communication skills and enable them to send photographs and communicate with family and friends, and integrate into the wider community.

This charity will use the funding to expand its service through volunteer recruitment at local events. This will enable the organisation to recruit more volunteers to cover crisis help lines at times that are under staffed, such as at night.

This charity will use the funding to provide sessional staff resources for a local community centre to support people in the local community to learn basic IT, work and life skills. This will provide the resources to improve the skills of young people who are NEET, support children with school and homework and provide adults who are not in employment with IT skills to improve their chances in life.

This charity will use the funding to install a new kitchen in the community centre. This will provide a serviceable and fit for purpose kitchen to meet the needs of groups and beneficiaries who use the community centre as a hub, including the preparation of meals for the homeless, healthy eating groups and community events and activities.

This charity will use the funding to expand their provision for young people from the LGBT community by developing a youth group, training and social space. This will provide a social support network for young people from the LGBT community where they can develop their skills in marketing, video, music, theatre, coding and business and create LGBT ambassadors through accredited training.

This organisation will use the funding to deliver a programme that will provide enterprise start-up training to BME women in the community. This will enable the organisation to offer a resource that will provide the beneficiaries with the necessary skills and knowledge to enter into self-employment in an area that currently suffers from high rates of unemployment.

The organisation will use the funding to run a series of workshops aimed at stoma patients and their carers in a bid to increase awareness of living with the condition as well as to provide mental health and practical support. This will enable the organisation to help provide support and care for an often isolated beneficiary group with the ongoing aim of improving health and emotional wellbeing.

Reading 2016 Year of Culture

organisation will use the funding to purchase additional equipment and resources for its high dosage oxygen therapy facility, and a standalone facility for people who may be claustrophobic or have sensitive hearing so are unable to access the chamber. This will enable the group to extend the service and provide people living with MS with access to therapeutic oxygen treatments to help alleviate symptoms and improve wellbeing and independence.

The organisation will use the funding to run a series of free, social lunches for pensioners in the area. This will enable the organisation to provide a healthy lunch for pensioners and the elderly to reduce social isolation.
